The Cleveland=20
Shakespeare=20
Festival 2001
We are pleased to announce our fourth season! This year we are presenting=20
CORIOLANUS and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING in two locations: the Shaker Heights=20
Colonnade and on the campus of Tri-C West in Parma.=20
CORIOLANUS will open Friday, June 29 at 6:30pm at the Shaker Heights=20
Colonnade. Directed by Brian Zoldessy, it is perhaps Shakespeare's most=20
overtly political play, more so even than the histories, Coriolanus takes as=
=20
its hero a man completely lacking in political gifts--a stubborn soldier,=20
brought down by an overweening pride and an inability to compromise with the=
=20
forces that seek his downfall. Coriolanus is trapped between two worlds--he=20
is a kingly figure, born to command; yet, at the same time he finds himself=20
inhabiting a republican political reality that--though he himself has helped=
=20
to create it--he cannot endure.=20
Our second show, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, presented through Actors=E2=80=99 E=
quity,=20
the professional stage actors union, as an Actors=E2=80=99 Equity Members=
=E2=80=99 Code=20
Project Production will open Friday, July 6 at 6:30pm, also at the Shaker=20
Heights Colonnade. Directed by Lisa Ortenzi, it is one of Shakespeare=E2=80=
=99s most=20
popular and enduring romantic comedies, deception, slander, and bumbling=20
incompetence rule the day. When Don Pedro=E2=80=99s men return from war thei=
r=20
thoughts turn to pursuits of the heart. But Count Claudio=E2=80=99s new love=
for Hero=20
is undermined by the trickery of the jealous Don John, who convinces Claudio=
=20
that Hero has been unfaithful. Claudio accuses Hero on the day of their=20
intended wedding and general havoc ensues.=20
Many old faces return to grace the stage of the Festival, among them are=20
Allen Branstein, Mike Roache, Mark Cipra, Kimberly Mahoney, Joshua Brown,=20
John Lynch, and Paul Kaiser. =20
There are many new faces as well, Nick Koesters, Jodi Lee Maile, James=20
Workman, Leilani Barrett, Mark Rabant, John Fleming, Matt McDermott as well=20
as many others.
Complete cast lists will be posted on our website (see below.)=20
The return of Tonya Beckman and Jay Kim herald the start of a new era for th=
e=20
Festival as they are producing MUCH ADO as an Equity Members Project under=20
the umbrella of the Shakespeare Festival. This gives an opportunity to see=20
three local Equity members (Beckman, Kim, and Juliette Regnier) explore the=20
sexual politics of the play at a deeper level. Two of the traditionally mal=
e=20
characters, Leonato and Don John, are being portrayed as women, thus=20
intensifying the depths of deception and betrayal. The first three weekends=20
of the Festival will be presented at the Shaker Heights Colonnade (3450=20
LeeRoad, Shaker Heights, OH.) The final two weekends will be presented on=20
the Tri-C Western Campus (11000 Pleasant Valley Rd., Parma, OH.) For=20

Professional Theater Group seeks venue for an Irish Wake...
My name is John M. Regan and I am with "Irish Rodeo Clowns, LLC", the =
Cleveland-area producers of the audience-interactive show "Flanagan's =
Wake". The "WAKE" has been running continuously in Chicago since St. =
Patrick's Day, March 17, 1994. It has been performed in "KENNEDY'S at =
Playhouse Square(PSF) periodically since 1996 and has quite a local =
following. The last two fall/winter seasons we have played to sold-out =
houses at KENNEDY'S. =20
I inquired about returning to PSF this fall and while we are welcome we =
would have to open in October, close mid-November, re-open in late =
December until the beginning of March, then we could return again in =
April. I believe this is too confusing. I have had difficulty finding =
another site as suited to the "WAKE" in Cleveland so, I am looking for a =
"home" for the "WAKE", perhaps in the Akron/Canton area. Many people =
from this area travelled to Playhouse Square to see the show and we have =
performed a benefit for the Akron AOH/LAOH and the Shawn Gaffney =
Foundation a couple of years ago in Akron. I think this would be a =
mutually beneficial opportunity for the proprietor of the right =
location. =20
The show is approximately 60% scripted, 40% IMPROV. The ideal setting =
should resemble a funeral parlor (preferably with a bar that serves =
Guinness!). The ideal audience size is 100-150 "mourners". If you =
would be interested in pursuing this idea at your location you may =

The Cleveland=20
Shakespeare=20
When Don Pedro=E2=80=99s men return from war thei=
r=20
thoughts turn to pursuits of the heart.
The return of Tonya Beckman and Jay Kim herald the start of a new era for th=
e=20
Two of the traditionally mal=
e=20
characters, Leonato and Don John, are being portrayed as women, thus=20
intensifying the depths of deception and betrayal.

I think this would be a =
mutually beneficial opportunity for the proprietor of the right =
location. =20
The show is approximately 60% scripted, 40% IMPROV. The ideal setting =
should resemble a funeral parlor (preferably with a bar that serves =
Guinness!). The ideal audience size is 100-150 "mourners". If you =

The Cleveland=20
Shakespeare=20
When Don Pedro=E2=80=99s men return from war thei=
r=20
thoughts turn to pursuits of the heart.
The return of Tonya Beckman and Jay Kim herald the start of a new era for th=
e=20
Two of the traditionally mal=
e=20
characters, Leonato and Don John, are being portrayed as women, thus=20
intensifying the depths of deception and betrayal.

I think this would be a =
mutually beneficial opportunity for the proprietor of the right =
location. =20
The show is approximately 60% scripted, 40% IMPROV. The ideal setting =
should resemble a funeral parlor (preferably with a bar that serves =
Guinness!). The ideal audience size is 100-150 "mourners". If you =
would be interested in pursuing this idea at your location you may =
contact me via email at irishrodeoclowns at mediaone.net or by phone at =
440-933-4410.
Thank you for reading this request. John Michael Regan.Irish Rodeo =

LLC", the Cleveland-area producers of the audience-interactive show =
"Flanagan's=20
Wake". The "WAKE" has been running continuously in Chicago since =
St.=20
Patrick's Day, March 17, 1994. It has been performed in "KENNEDY'S =
at=20
Playhouse Square(PSF) periodically since 1996 and has quite a local=20
following. The last two fall/winter seasons we have played to =
sold-out=20
houses at KENNEDY'S.
I inquired about returning to PSF this fall and =
while we are=20
welcome we would have to open in October, close mid-November, re-open in =
late=20
December until the beginning of March, then we could return again in=20
April. I believe this is too confusing. I have had =
difficulty=20
finding another site as suited to the "WAKE" in Cleveland so, =
I am=20
looking for a "home" for the "WAKE", perhaps in the Akron/Canton=20
area. Many people from this area travelled to Playhouse =
Square to see=20
the show and we have performed a benefit for the Akron AOH/LAOH and =
the=20
Shawn Gaffney Foundation a couple of years ago in Akron. I think =
this=20
would be a mutually beneficial opportunity for the proprietor of the =
right=20
location.
The show is approximately 60% scripted, 40% =
IMPROV. The=20
ideal setting should resemble a funeral parlor (preferably with a bar =
that=20
serves Guinness!). The ideal audience size is 100-150 =
"mourners". If=20
you would be interested in pursuing this idea at your location you may =
contact=20
me via email at irishrodeoclowns at mediaone.n=
et or=20
by phone at 440-933-4410.

The Cleveland=20
Shakespeare=20
When Don Pedro=E2=80=99s men return from war thei=
r=20
thoughts turn to pursuits of the heart.
The return of Tonya Beckman and Jay Kim herald the start of a new era for th=
e=20
Two of the traditionally mal=
e=20
characters, Leonato and Don John, are being portrayed as women, thus=20
intensifying the depths of deception and betrayal.

I think this would be a =
mutually beneficial opportunity for the proprietor of the right =
location. =20

The Cleveland=20
Shakespeare=20
When Don Pedro=E2=80=99s men return from war thei=
r=20
thoughts turn to pursuits of the heart.
The return of Tonya Beckman and Jay Kim herald the start of a new era for th=
e=20
Two of the traditionally mal=
e=20
characters, Leonato and Don John, are being portrayed as women, thus=20
intensifying the depths of deception and betrayal.

I think this would be a =
mutually beneficial opportunity for the proprietor of the right =
location. =20
