Actors' Summit Announces OPEN Auditions

    Neil Thackaberry, Artistic Director of Actors' Summit, a professional 
theater, announced open auditions today for roles in the musical Roar of the 
Greasepaint, Smell of the Crowd. The production is scheduled for a 16 
performance run from September 13 through October 7. Principal and Chorus 
roles are available.

    Auditions will be held on Saturday, July 28 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.  
Location for the auditions will be the hardware store in Hudson, Ohio (5374 
Darrow Road). The hardware store (the former Sherman Hardware) is the most 
recent temporary home of Actors' Summit. The store is 1 1/2 miles south of 
Rt. 303 in Hudson. 

    Auditioners should prepare 16 bars of a song from any musical. An 
accompanist will be present and no a cappella or tape auditions. Auditioners 
should be prepared to read from the script.

    Rehearsals begin August 13.

    Roles to be cast:
    Cocky - 20 - 30 something male
    The Kid - 20's something female
    The Girl - 20's something female
    The Bully - Any male adult with a physically intimidating appearance        
    (non-singing role)
    The Negro - Adult African American male
    The Urchins - 8 young people, ages 10 - 18 

Casting is open to all.  The production will be directed by Neil Thackaberry.

The Actors' Summit policy on Nontraditional Casting reads in part: "Actors' 
Summit is committed to Nontraditional Casting.  Except in cases where race, 
gender, age, or disability is essential to the play, all roles will be cast 
on the basis of talent."  All roles to be cast are open to individuals of any 
race.

All roles are paid.  Members of Actors' Equity are encouraged to audition.  
All actors are asked to bring a resume and head shot.
