Thursday, September 20, 2001; 7:p.m.
GREAT Lakes Ladies — The Fairport Harbor Historical Society will present
this storytelling program at the Fairport Harbor Senior Center; 301 High
St.   Join Bette Lou Higgins to hear the stories of the heroic women of
the Inland Seas. This program is free and open to the public.  The
Fairport Harbor Lighthouse and Marine Museum at 129 Second St. will also
be open free of charge that evening from 5:45 - 7p.m.  For additional
program information contact the Historical Society at  440-354-4825.


October 12,13,19,20,26, & 27, 2001 from 7p.m. to 10p.m.  — Legends of
the Lakes at the Steamship William G. Mather.  Enjoy an evening on board
Cleveland's only floating museum and hear stories from the Inland Seas
as you tour the boat.  You'll hear about the careless crew of the ship
Amelia, watch for the ghost of Red Monroe, hear how one Lake Captain
outwitted three slave catchers and got 20 runaway slaves to freedom in
Canada, find out about Lighthouse Lady Harriet Colfax and listen to the
touching song and story of the Lower Lights.  For further information
call the Mather at 216-574-9053.  The Mather is located at the East 9th
