We at Dobama Theatre are deeply saddened at the acts of terrorism and
destruction that have taken place in our country this week. Our thoughts and
prayers are with everyone whose lives have been impacted by this terrible
tragedy.

And, in light of these terrible events, we feel very strongly about still
opening THE LARAMIE PROJECT by Moises Kaufman at 8 p.m.this Friday,
September 14. The play, which examines the 1998 hate crime murder of gay
student Matthew Shepard is of very special significance at this time, as our
nation deals with what is essentially another hate crime - terrorism.

Terrorism at its heart carries the earmarks of hate crime - the basic
insensitivity to the sanctity of all life, the complete lack of tolerance
for other viewpoints and ways of life, and the horrific level of violence
that detroys anything in its path.

And so we will open THE LARAMIE PROJECT, in the hope that this will send a
message to all those who would perptrate crimes on any scale based on hate.

Intolerence, violence, and hate in all their forms will never destroy love
and hope.
