> Playhouse Square Foundation announces a special opportunity with
> International touring artist, puppeteer and artistic director of the
> Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia - Jim Morrow,
>
> Wednesday , November 14th from 6:30 - 8:30pm in the West Rehearsal Hall at
> Playhouse Square - Local theatre artists, puppeteers and other interested
> individuals are invited to this participatory workshop which explores the
> notion of using puppets as a medium to tell stories with special emphasis
> on the importance of the relationship between the puppeteer, the puppet
> and the audience. By using a simple found object, the participants are
> introduced to the five basic principals of a puppet presentation, and talk
> generally about simple techniques. Participants will be encouraged to
> explore these techniques through exercises using generic characters
> designed for two or more manipulators. The objective of the workshop is
> to add to the participants' knowledge of puppetry through movement,
> observation and repetition. The session concludes with a demonstration of
> puppets drawn from actual characters used in Mermaid Theatre of Nova
> Scotia's touring shows.
