Get ready, Cleveland! Hedwig is inching her way into town just in time for
the holidays. This post-punk neo-glam rock odyssey based on Plato’s
Symposium tells the story of internationally ignored song-stylist: Hedwig
Schmidt, a fourth-wall-smashing, German rock & roll goddess who also happens
to be the victim of a gruesomely botched sex-change operation.

Performed in Cleveland Public Theatre’s Gordon Square Theatre, Hedwig And
The Angry Inch opens Friday, December 7 at 8:00 p.m. and runs through
Monday, December 31, 2001 with previews on December 5 and 6 at 8:00pm. All
performances will be held on Thursday and Friday evenings at 8:00p.m.with
two shows on Saturdays at 7:00p.m. and 10:30p.m. with an extra show on
Sunday December 30, 2001 at 7:00p.m. Tickets are $20.00 for general
admission and $15.00 for seniors and students and $12.00 for previews.

Great Story!
Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the story of transsexual rocker Hedwig
Schmidt, an East German immigrant who submits to a sex change operation in
an attempt to gain American citizenship. The operation is horribly botched
and Hedwig is left with a one inch strip of undefined genitalia. Living
alone and penniless in a trailer park in Kansas, Hedwig meets Tommy Speck
who she introduces to the world of music, eventually grooming him to become
a major rock star, Tommy Gnosis. Tommy’s fame rises and Hedwig is left alone
once again feeling rejected, spiteful and jealous. Hedwig regains notoriety
when she and Tommy fall victim to a terrible accident that puts them in the
headlines of every major tabloid. We now find Hedwig performing with her
band, The Angry Inch along with her second husband Yitzak across the river
from the venue where her former lover Tommy Gnosis is playing to a sell out
crowd.
