Cleveland Public Theatre is proud to announce the world premiere of Even
Without Angels. Performed and created by professional local theatre company
Wishhounds (formerly Theatre Labyrinth) Even Without Angels is a family
oriented collection of magical tales designed to entertain children and
their families. Performed in Cleveland Public Theatre’s Mainstage Theatre,
Even Without Angels opens Thursday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. and runs through
Saturday, December 22, 2001. All performances will be held on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00p.m.with matinees on Saturdays and
Sundays at 2:00p.m. This show is recommended for children ages 7 and up.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children and Sunday matinees are
free and open to the public. For more box office information and

Even Without Angels follows the seemingly separate paths of three young
adventurers.  A young man attempts to impersonate a noble king, but his
deception turns against him when the responsibilities of being a leader
prove too great for his young years.  The impatience of an alchemist’s
apprentice leads to danger when she leaps ahead past her mundane lessons
straight to a perilous attempt to turn lead into gold.  A woman builds her
own home in the forest but finds that the trees she cut down for lumber won’
t let her leave.  Even Without Angels follows this tangle of stories, coming
together in a climactic web of discovery and growth where young people are
the heroes responsible for their own actions.

Inspired by the works of modern children’s authors such as Madeline L’Engle
and Philip Pullman, Even Without Angels speaks in eloquent language and
dynamic physical realities to children of the post-MTV era.  Character
themes such as integrity, responsibility, patience, perseverance, courage
and loyalty are revealed in new and exciting ways, as well as the most
essential of all needs: the necessity for love. Even Without Angels promises
to challenge the imagination and warm the heart, providing a perfect vehicle
for child and adult alike to grapple with age-old questions in increasingly
troubled times.

Wishhounds is Cleveland’s premiere ensemble of professional theatre artists
creating original performance works through a collaborative process
involving daily physical and vocal training, and exploration of actors’
personal sources: dream life, imagination, and memory.  Working with
sincerity, simplicity and precision, Wishhounds invites audiences to partake
in a feast for the eye, ear, body, mind and spirit, drawing audiences into a
direct relationship with the play and the performers.   Wishhounds has
performed on three continents and toured the United States to audience
acclaim and rave reviews.
