Yentl

The Jewish Community Center's Eugene S. and Blanche R. Halle Theatre
presents Yentl which will be performed January 19th - February 3rd  at the
Halle Theatre, located at the JCC's Mayfield Building, 3505 Mayfield Road,
Cleveland Heights. The performance times are as follows: Thursdays at 7:30
pm, Saturdays at 8:30 pm, Sundays January 20th and January 27th at 2:00 pm
and 7:30pm, and Sunday, February 3rd  at 2:00 pm only, with a special
discounted preview performance on Thursday, January 17th at 7:30 pm.  There
will be a sign language interpreted performance on Sunday, January 27th at
7:30 pm.  Transportation will be offered for seniors to the performance on
Sunday, January 20th at 7:30pm and for more information or to arrange a ride
please call (216) 382-4000, Ext. 258.  
This production of Yentl, written by Leah Napolin and Isaac Bashevis Singer,
is directed by David Bamberger.  In the Eastern European world of 1873,
options for young women were few, but Yentl defies the culture of her time
to follow her dreams of studying Torah in this moving and beautiful play.
The cast features Ken Allan, Robert Catalano, Rachel Goldberg, David Gordon,
Karin Hess, Colleen Hovis, John Kolibab, Don Krosin, Sy Levine, Marcia
Mandell, Sara Menefee, Tracee Patterson, Rhoda Rosen, Daniel Saunders,
Danielle Stein, Adrienne Wasserman, and Larry Weiss.   
	Tickets are $14 - $18 and are available by calling the Box Office at

Yentl: New Jewish Feminism - The Growth of Women's Jewish Identity and

Linda Tobin will moderate a discussion with local women leaders on how their
Jewish and feminist identities have evolved and been molded in an
egalitarian climate.

This 36 minute documentary relays the experience of religious Israeli women
grappling with women's rights to study Torah and take active leadership
roles, while maintaining their traditional family status. Enjoy a

Reflecting on a Vanished World: The Shtetl in Europe
Sunday, February 3, 1:00 PM
Senior Adult Lounge, JCC Mayfield Building
Dr. Leatrice Rabinsky, premiere local educator, will lead a discussion on
the life style of Jews portrayed in Yentl.

	There will also be post-show discussion on Thursday, January 24 with
Yentl actors, and on Thursday, January 31 with Director David Bamberger.
