Who we're looking for?
In conjunction with Great Lakes Theater Festival's production of William
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, we are looking to locate and interview
couples from or living in Summit County who fell in love and made and
sustained a commitment to one another across boundaries and barriers -
whether race, religion, age, economic class, physical disability, sexual
orientation, ethnicity or simply a last name such as Montague or Capulet.

Why are we looking?
Shakespeare's famous "star-cross'd" lovers fell in love across the barriers
of family rivalries and parental disapproval and came to a tragic end. The
kind of divisiveness that tore these young lovers apart creates tragic
barriers in our world as well. But there are those whose determination,
sacrifices and profound commitment help them transcend such barriers. We
want to celebrate their inspiring stories!

What will happen?
If you know a couple who has achieved a meaningful and lasting connection
across the boundaries that frequently keep people apart, nominate that
couple today. Nominate your parents, your children, your grandchildren or
even nominate yourself and your partner!  Great Lakes Theater Festival's
education staff will choose a select number of couples to be interviewed.
Their interviews will provide the basis for an art installation in the Ohio
Theatre lobby in downtown Cleveland during the run of Romeo and Juliet. The
installation will then travel to The University of Akron and the
Akron/Summit County Historical Society.
