The Spring Session of Theatre classes at the Players Guild in Canton will
begin Saturday, March 30.  A wide range of dance, acting, voice, and even a
magic course is being offered for kids and adults alike!   Open registration

2001 - 2002 THEATRE CLASS SCHEDULES

SPRING TERM
REGISTRATION:
March 11, 2002 - March 30, 2002
8 week class session begins March 30
ends May 18


ZANY ZOO THEATRE (ages 5 - 8 )
What's your favorite zoo animal? Imagine if you were given the opportunity
to become that animal. Anything is possible. This zany zoo ride will allow
your child to express themselves through movement and sound in the world of
drama.
Instructor: Terry M. Sandler ,
Saturday mornings, 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Eight weeks. ($80)

SKITS FOR KIDS ( ages 9 - 12 )
Kids develop characters and scenes. Final class session is an evening of
sharing with students performing for family and guests.
Instructor: Mary Lou Ianni, Tuesday afternoons,
4:00 - 5:15p.m. Eight weeks ($80)

THE MAGIC IN YOU ( ages 12 through adult )
Designed for those who wish to learn about the art of magic and illusion.
Students will gain insight concerning the secrets of magic, AND also enhance
motor skills, social skills, and in the process, boost overall confidence.

Eight weeks ($80) + supplies

TEENS ACTING OUT ( ages 13 -15 )
will develop basic skills necessary for a career (or just an enjoyable
hobby) on the stage. The class utilizes in-class exercises and performances
to develop a solid base of acting knowledge.

Saturdays 11:30 a.m. - 1:00p.m. Eight weeks ($80)

KIDS ACTING OUT (ages 9-12)
Develops characters through the use of improvisation and encourages physical
expression, development of the imagination, self-discovery, and sharing with
others.

Instructor: Mary Lou Ianni,
Mondays,
4:00 - 5:15 PM. Eight weeks ($80)

THEATRE DANCE
(ages 12 - 18)
Explore stage movement through dance. Learn the basic steps necessary to
survive in a musical. Dancers of all levels are welcome.
Instructor: Jennica McCleary,
Saturday afternoons, 1:00 to 2:00p.m. Eight weeks ($80).


ACTING FOR LIFE (ages 16 +)
This course will introduce both the beginning and experienced actor to the
Sanford Meisner Technique. The work in this class is geared to challenge and
create the necessary foundation for the ACTOR in all of us.

Tuesday evenings
7:00 - 9:00p.m. Eight weeks ($80)

THE SPOKEN WORD (ages 21 + )
Advanced adult actors will engage in improvisation and scene study from
classical and contemporary theatre literature will be worked on in this
class for advanced actors. Focus will be on group and individual analysis of
text and character.

Saturdays, 12:00 - 2:30 p.m. Eight weeks ($80)



PRIVATE CLASSES
Special private classes can be arranged by appointment with Amy Marie Sima
(voice), and/or Steve Parsons (piano). Class sessions will be 30 minutes to
one hour in length. Fees are set by the instructor.

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS (ages 8 - Adult)
One on one study of vocal technique. Focus on breath support and tone
quality using a Musical Theatre repertoire. Additional studies in opera and
classical training at student's request.
Instructor: Amy Marie Sima
Thursdays and Saturdays, $15.00 per half hour. Schedule with Instructor.

PRIVATE PIANO LESSONS (ages 7 - Adult)
Advanced and beginners are welcome. One on one study of piano techniques.
Pianists learn finger dexterity and build a performance repertoire.
Instructor: Steve Parsons
Wednesdays and Fridays, $15.00 per half hour. Schedule with Instructor.


NEW! CLASSES FOR HOME SCHOOLERS
will be held on Tuesdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for youths 11-14
years of age; and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for youths 14-17
years of age. These classes will be team taught by Sima, Sandler, and
Pfuderer and will utilize history and literature as a context for studying
acting, voice, and movement. The course is designed for students to consider
the various opportunities in the performing arts. Classes will be limited to
20 students. Ten weeks ($100) + supplies.

THEATRE PROJECT ( ages 14-18 )
Students will design a theatre project that they will explore with the
instructor. Culmination of the class will be a public presentation of their
project.
