In celebration of Moscow Ballet’s 10th Anniversary touring the United
States, we are pleased to announce the establishment of the first Moscow

Ballet USA Summer Workshop. Unlike most master class programs that
require an expensive residency, our masters will travel across the
nation to bring instruction of the highest quality directly to young
students. Lakeshore Dance & Gymnastics located in Euclid, OH, Ms. Sally

DeAngelo, Director, has been chosen as one of only 12 locations that
will host this exciting program. Classes will run Monday, August 5th –
Saturday, August 17th.

Faculty will include master teachers from Russia’s renowned National
Academy of Theatrical Arts- GITIS, which was founded in 1878 by theater
pioneers Konstantin Stanislavsky—father of the “method” school of
acting. GITIS’ ballet department was founded in 1946 under A. Gorsky,
R. Zakharov and Leonid Lavaovsky of the Bolshoi Ballet with equal state
funding to the Bolshoi. It is the only institute in Russia to offer a
diploma in choreography and direction for ballet theatre. Its
distinguished ballet masters include Vladimir Vassiliev (director of the

Bolshoi, retired), Nadja Pavlova (prima ballerina absoluta of the
Bolshoi, retired) and Katirina Maximova (prima ballerina absoluta of the

Bolshoi, retired). The company was recently awarded three gold medals
from Japan’s Emperor Akihito for establishing the classical ballet in
Japan.

The program is open to students with at least three years of ballet
training. Classes will run Monday through Friday with four classes of 1

½ hour per day taught by two Russian masters, one female and one male
expert in partnering and repertory. Each course will focus on one of
four areas: partnering, historical dance/character dance, classical and

repertory. The first Saturday will feature a bonus guided cultural
outing to a local arts event. The course will conclude on Saturday with

an open house workshop at which parents can watch a demonstration of
their children’s’ achievements.

Cost of the program is $700.00. Payment in full must be received no
later than May 1st, 2002. Class size is limited.

Scholarships are available based on financial need. Scholarship
applications must be received no later than April 15th.

Payment by American Express, Master Card, Visa, Discover, personal check

or money order payable to Moscow Ballet. Refund policy: Refunds will
