Prelude2Cinema has cast a Hispanic actress from New York as the lead in "Out
of Darkness." Lorraine Rodriguez will play a tough Cleveland homicide
detective who hasn't slept in the past three months. The reason she hasn't
slept is, because when she gets tired, her body is overtaken by a shadow like
creature that goes about literally devouring criminals. The series is
expected to begin shooting late May/June in Cleveland, Ohio. It is described
as "NYPD Blue" meets "The X-Files."
Prelude2Cinema recently held a casting call at North Coast Central Casting.
About 200 actors attended from Cleveland, New York and as far away as Canada
and Texas.
The Internet played a huge part in the creation of the series. Actors were
contacted over the web. Some found the website and sent in headshots and
resumes. Prelude2Cinema posted notices on-line at sites like
www.hellohola.org (a site for Hispanic actors). Miss Rodriguez was found
through the web search. Prelude2Cinema also found the writers for the series
on-line. The pilot was written by Alex P. Michaels and is based on his
multiple Emmy winning movie "What Angels Fear." The six other scripts for
Season One were written by Terrence Kenneth of Canada, Ethel Symolon of
Connecticut, and Jason A. Tetro, also of Canada, who has written an upcoming
two part episode on the infamous Torso murders.
The Series is expected to begin shooting in late May 2002 and will make use
of local talent and shot all over the city. "Out of Darkness" is a cop show
that can take place no where but Cleveland.
The Series is still casting. More info can be found at the website <A HREF="http://www.prelude2cinema.com/dark.htm">
