Weathervane Playhouse will hold A SERIES OF AUDITIONS for the musical THE 
WIZ, book by William F. Brown, music and lyrics by Charlie Small.  The 
musical is based on the story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.  
This production is a cooperative venture with Firestone High School.

Auditions BY APPOINTMENT will be held AT FIRESTONE HIGH SCHOOL on Wednesday, 
May 15 and Thursday, May 16 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Call 330-836-2626 
for an appointment.

Auditions BY APPOINTMENT will be held AT WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE (1301 
Weathervane Lane, Akron, in the Valley off Merriman Road) on Friday, May 17 
from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 18 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.  
Callbacks will be held on Saturday, May 18 starting at Noon. Call 
330-836-2626 for an appointment.

Cast requirements:    8 men ages 17 - 60
          5 women ages 17 - 60
          An ensemble of boys and girls ages 10 through 18

Prepare:    An audition song.  MUST bring sheet music in the correct key. An 
accompanist will be provided. NO
a capella auditions will be permitted.

Director/Choreographer for the production of The Wiz is Eric Van Baars.  Van 
Baars, a member of SSDC, is currently the choreographer for Weathervane's 
Fiddler on the Roof.  He has served as either choreographer or director for 
productions at Cain Park, Porthouse, Case Western Reserve and the Halle 
Theatre among others.

All roles are available. Weathervane Playhouse is committed to 
non-traditional casting.  Except in cases where race, gender, age or 
disability is essential to the play, all roles will be cast on the basis of 
talent.  Weathervane Playhouse is a community theater. All performers in all 
productions are volunteers.
