CAST OF FOOLS SET TO OPEN IN HUDSON

Neil's Simon's Fools, a uproariously funny comic fable, is set to open in
Hudson, Ohio, Friday evening May 3rd. Presented by The Hudson Players, one
of the areas longest running, award winning theater troupes, the show
promises a fun filled evening for everyone who attends.

Directed by Pete Young, Fools, is a likable, 1981 zany trifle based on the
Jewish fable "The Wise Men of Chelm." It tells the story of a fledgling
schoolmaster in 19th century Russia finds that his first post is in a
village where, due to an ancient curse, stupidity is a way of life. For
these good-natured, loopy villagers, opening doors is always a new
challenge, time and direction are iffy concepts, lost sheep are expected to
write home, flowers are sold as fish and cows are turned belly up in order
to provide cream on tap.

Before teacher Leon can beat a hasty retreat, he falls for the lovely but
dim Sophia. A descendant of the woman responsible for the curse--she spurned
a jealous nobleman--Sophia has just mastered the art of sitting in a chair.

Leon decides to stay, win Sophia and restore the villagers' wandering wits.
Two complications: He has only one day before the curse claims him too, and
the last descendant of the spurned nobleman, Count Gregor, lords it over his
silly subjects and lusts after Sophia himself. Great fun for all involved!

Performance dates are scheduled for May 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 & 18 at the Barlow
Community Center in Hudson. Reservations can be made by calling
330-655-8522, with advance sale tickets available at The Learned Owl
Bookstore on Main St. in Hudson, or online at www.hudsonplayers.com. Curtain
times are 8 p.m. and tickets are $8 with group, student and senior citizen
discounts available. Opening night guests will be treated to a meet the cast
reception after the show.

The Hudson Players are members of the Ohio Community Theatre Association,
The American Association of Community Theaters and the Hudson Chamber of
Commerce and have been entertaining area audiences for over 57 seasons as a
non-profit community theater organization. They are one of Ohio's longest
running community theaters.
