CALLING ALL ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS
Here is an opportunity for you to express your talents, get involved in the
community, gain some great exposure and perhaps make some extra cash.

In place of my annual summer party, I am coordinating a street wide sale that
will take place Saturday, August 3 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. This sale will
include the participation of over 200 households and neighborhood businesses
on W. 99th Street.

My vision is to take the event to the next level and create a festival-type
atmosphere. In addition to the sale, I would like to invite artists of all
descriptions to perform and setup shop on the street corners. With the
event's exposure and foot traffic this will be a perfect opportunity for all
types of artists (e.g., musicians, face painters, jewelry makers, balloon
twisters, mimes, etc.) and arts organizations to get involved.

We have a lot of children in the neighborhood who have no creative outlets to
express themselves. I invite you to use this opportunity to create and share
your talents with others. Whether you want to draw chalk figures on the
sidewalks, perform a skit, or modern dance across the lawn, the opportunity
is for you to take advantage of.

Earlier this month, a friend and I went door-to-door passing out flyers
informing each household and business on W. 99th Street that the event is
scheduled (there will be another flyer distribution in July). I've also put
out a request for households to contact me if they would be willing to "host
an artist(s)" on their sidewalk/driveway or front lawn.

This event will be promoted through classified advertising, flyers and media
exposure. Hundreds of people are expected to attend and I'm currently
working on getting Mayor Campbell to make an appearance. This is a rain or
shine event and the street will NOT be blocked off.

Please spread the invite to other artists, and contact me either via email
eye2wonder at aol.com or at (216) 281.7451 with your feedback.

Thanks,
Jeon Francis
