Opening One Month From Today!

THE CLEVELAND SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ITS
FIFTH SEASON OF FREE OUTDOOR SHAKESPEARE
OPENING FRIDAY, JULY 5, 2002

"HENRY IV" & "AS YOU LIKE IT"

The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival announces its Fifth Season, which will
include HENRY IV, adapted and directed by Lawrence Nehring, and AS YOU LIKE
IT, directed by Jerrold Scott.

HENRY IV, presented in a special adaptation that will feature both parts in
a single evening, opens Friday, July 5 at 7 PM at the Shaker Heights
Colonnade, on the corner of Lee and Van Aken in Shaker Heights.

AS YOU LIKE IT opens Friday, July 12 at 7 PM at the Shaker Heights
Colonnade. Complete festival schedule is listed below.

Admission is free and open to the public; there are no tickets for
admission. Seating is on the lawn, patrons are encouraged to bring blankets
or low-backed lawn chairs to the performance.

HENRY IV is a compelling story of a king who kills for his crown, only to
see his political allies turn against him in his moment of triumph. Prince
Hal is desperate for a father's love, but hangs out drinking all night in
the bar with Falstaff and his gang of thieves. How far will Hal go to win
Henry IV's approval? And who will triumph when the carousing Prince Hal and
the hot-blooded Hotspur meet on the battlefield?

AS YOU LIKE IT: Come see why "All the world's a stage..." as romantic
confusion abounds in this gender-bending tale of love in the Forest of
Arden. Join Rosalind as she attempts to teach Orlando the true way to a
woman's heart. One of Shakespeare's great comedies.

DANNY MORRIS EQUITY CONTRACT: The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival is the
proud recipient of the first Danny Morris Equity Contract, sponsored by the
Cleveland Theater Collective. This award is offered by the CTC to
underwrite a new and otherwise unsubsidized performing opportunity for a
local professional actor. The CSF has bestowed the DMEC upon Equity member
Cassandra Vincent, who will be playing Rosalind in AS YOU LIKE IT.

When:
HENRY IV dates: July 5-7, 18, 20, 26, 28, August 1, 3.
AS YOU LIKE IT dates: July 12-14, 19, 21, 25, 27, August 2, 4.
Performances are Thursday through Sunday, and all begin at 7 PM.

Where:
July 5 - 20 performances are at the Shaker Heights Colonnade, on the corner
of Lee and Van Aken in Shaker Heights.
July 25 - August 5 performances move to the Tri-C Western Campus, at 11000
Pleasant Valley Rd., Parma.

The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival is dedicated to producing the plays of
Shakespeare in the way that the author intended -- fun, at the speed of
thought, and in the midst of a vibrant community. To that end, we are
committed to free admission, a festive atmosphere, and an earned attention
to the work of the play.
