DOBAMA THEATRE presents the
24th Annual Marilyn Bianchi Kids’ Playwriting Festival!

June 6-9, 2002

Dobama Theatre at 1846 Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights will present the
24th Annual Marilyn Bianchi Kids’ Playwriting Festival June 6-9, 2002. This
very special event celebrates 24 years of continuing Marilyn’s work as
Dobama Theatre presents full productions of plays written by Cleveland area
students from grades 1-12. “This year’s Festival is as special as ever,
particularly because Dobama founder Don Bianchi died this past March,” says
Dobama Artistic Director Joyce Casey. “We’re dedicating this year’s
Festival to him for all the love and passion he put into this theater, along
with his wife Marilyn for whom the Festival is named.”

>From Joyce Casey, Artistic Director
The Marilyn Bianchi Kids’ Playwriting Festival was the first event of its
kind in the country. For Donald it was the most important event of the
season. He continually reminded the young playwrights and the actors that
they were truly “making something in a world where others were breaking
things.” Donald felt that Marilyn’s Festival represented Dobama Theatre at
its very best. All of us at Dobama feel honored to have had the opportunity
to create theater with Donald Bianchi. He was a visionary who inspired us
to pursue excellence, while cherishing the experience with the other
artists. And so with love, respect, and deep appreciation we dedicate the
24th Annual Marilyn Bianchi Kids’ Playwriting Festival to you, Donald
Bianchi.
