Cleveland Public Theatre is seeking a First Hand or Stitcher to assist in
the costume build for it new, original performance work, Blue Sky
Transmission: A Tibetan Book of the Dead.

EXPERIENCE:
We are seeking a person to assist the designer, Karen Young, in the
construction of costumes for an ensemble of nine. Candidate should have a
minimum one-year professional experience theatre costume shop or
professional tailoring or dressmaking and should have his or her own form of
transportation.

HOURS & RATE:
This is a part-time position with flexible daytime hours running from July
22 to Sept. 13. This position could also include maintenance and cleaning of
the costume during the run of the show from Sept 13 to Oct. 7th. Workload
will vary between 8-24 hours a week and will be paid on a fee basis to be
negotiated based on experience.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Karen Young is a freelance costume designer and textile
artist in New York City and has designed for numerous modern dance companies
in New York and internationally, including Monte/Brown Dance, the Martha
Graham Dance Company, Philadanco, the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, the Ice
Theatre of New York, Aleta Hayes, butoh dancers Eiko and Koma, "El Retablo
Embrujado" in Mexico City, Theatre de la Jeune Lune's "Pelleas et Melisande"
in Minneapolis, Martha Stewart Living magazine, Sesame Street, and visual
artist Matthew Barney's films "Cremaster 1" and "Cremaster 5". As a textile
artist, her lace installations have recently been exhibited in galleries in
Helsinki, Heidelberg, and Brussels.  She has received grants from the
N.E.A./ Theatre Communications Group for costume design and the New York
State Crafts Alliance for textile art, and is a graduate of the Rhode Island
School of Design.
