The Jovialities Entertainment Co., Ltd. has been performing live, =
interactive, improvisational murder mysteries, comedy weddings and =
Renaissance feastes in and around the Greater Cleveland area since 1986. =
Our most frequent performance venues include the Oberlin College Inn, =
The Comfort Inn in Ashtabula and Hotel Conneaut in Conneaut, PA. =
Current and former Jovialities performers are now performing with the =
Great Lakes Theatre Festival and the Motor City Improv Troupe among =
others.

We are experiencing a period of growth that includes increased bookings =
at our frequent venues as well as for private shows. This growth has =
prompted us to seek out new actors to add to our current acting pool of =
30 performers. As you can well imagine, with our actors performing for =
us and for organizations such as those listed above, scheduling =
performers is a challenge, to say the least. To supplement our regular =
performers, we are seeking the following:

a.. experienced improv murder mystery actors - if you performed with =
Cloak And Dagger, Murder ala Carte, Sweet Revenge or any of the other =
companies around Cleveland and want to get back into the business, we =
want to talk to you
b.. talented improv acting students - if you have graduated from or =
taken classes at Cabaret DaDa or Second City and would like to make a =
few bucks while further honing your skills, we want to talk to you
c.. friendly people with warm, open, outgoing personalities
d.. people who act for the joy of performing
e.. people who can put together a performance very quickly
f.. people who are not afraid of talking "with" their audiences
g.. people who are quick on their feet
h.. team players, no "stars" please - we want people we can trust to =
carry the show where it is supposed to go without grandstanding, =
upstaging or throwing in their own peculiar twists
i.. we are especially looking for men aged 30-60 and women aged 20-60 =
who can play a wide variety of character types and who are not above =
playing the same type of character all the time
If you are one of these people and are interested in being considered =
for inclusion in our acting pool, please do the following:
a.. check out our website at www.jovialities.8m.com to see if what we =
do interests you and if you think we would make a good match, a thorough =
search of our website, especially the Murder Mystery Breakdown page, =
should answer a multitude of questions you have for us
b.. send us your resume and a photo that shows you as you naturally =
are (as an attachment in either Word or PDF format) either via email to =
jovialities at excite.com or by snail mail to J. R. Simons, Producer, The =
Jovialities Entertainment Co., Ltd., 521 Park Avenue, Elyria, Ohio 44035
c.. make sure your resume has your address, phone number, email =
address and website (if you have one) clearly displayed
d.. no phone calls please, resumes and photos of people who call will =
be summarily disposed of upon receipt
e.. all resumes and headshots must be received no later than August =
23, 2002 so that we can bolster our acting pool in time for the =
onslaught of shows from October 26, 2002 through April 5, 2003
After reviewing all headshots and resumes, we will schedule =
auditions/interviews with only those people who show promise. All other =
resumes and headshots will be kept on file for one year and then =
summarily disposed of. =20

We are a non-Equity acting company. We are not a talent agency. We do =
pay our actors for their services. The typical contract is for one =
performance or a short series of performances of the same script. This =
contract includes one rehearsal to prepare for the performance or =
series. The typical current stipend range is $40.00 - $75.00 per =
performance, depending on our contract with the hosting organization. =
Actors are usually fed by the hosting organization prior to the =
performance, and eating in character is part of the contracted =
performance. Some of our clients will provide overnight accommodations =
at their expense when the venue is over 110 miles from our Elyria =
office. Actors are responsible for their own insurance (although we do =
pay into Ohio BWC) and income taxes. Actors who make over $600.00 in a =
calendar year are issued a 1099-MISC.

No agency submissions please. We want to talk to you directly, not your =
agent. The stipends we pay are so small that it would be inappropriate =
to have to pay 10% to 15% to an agent, not to mention not very lucrative =
for an agent. Compare us to the writing market. Novelists are =
represented by agents, short story writers are not. We are like short =
story publishers. They don't deal with agents, either. All agency =
submissions will be summarily disposed of.

We look forward to meeting you and forging friendships that will foster =
quality performances.

Thanks!
