Cleveland, Ohio-Please join us for the 2002 Ohio Independent Film=20
Festival, November 2-10, our ninth year of independent film=20
festivals.  All events are presented at Cleveland Public
Theatre's Gordon Square Theatre, 6409 Detroit Road, unless

=B7	Saturday, November 2, 9a-6p, at WVIZ/PBS-IdeaStream, 4300=20
Brookpark Road: DOCUMENTARY WORKSHOP with New York City-based=20
production company Sugar Pictures, which has produced projects for=20
HBO, CINEMAX, and PBS.  The workshop provides hard-won lessons from=20
professional filmmakers on researching, fund-raising, producing, and=20
marketing non-fiction films.  Advance registration is recommended,=20
space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.

=B7	Sunday, November 3, 9a-5p, at WVIZ/PBS-IdeaStream, 4300=20
Brookpark Road: 3RD ANNUAL DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY (DP) WORKSHOP with=20
local legend Robert C. Banks, Jr.  This wildly popular, hands-on=20
workshop allows participants to help three DPs light and shoot scenes=20
on 16mm film, which is then screened the next weekend at the festival.

=B7	Monday, November 4, 7p, at Shaker Square Cinemas, 13116=20
Shaker Blvd: PREMIERE PRESENTATION of the feature film ZELIMO (young=20
boy escapes anti-Semitic Russia only to be baited as a commie spy by=20
kids at an orthodox Jewish camp in New York), panel discussion on=20
TOLERANCE, reception.

=B7	Tuesday, November 5, 8p: SCRIPT MILL, a professional,=20
unstaged screenplay reading of an award-winning script, is modeled=20
after the Nuyorican Poets Caf=E9's program in New York City.

=B7	Wednesday, November 6, 5p: PREMIERE PRESENTATION of the=20
feature film REFRIGERATOR MOTHERS (about the challenges of raising an=20
autistic child, the pain and stigma of labels, and the strength of=20
courageous mothers and the unconditional love they have for their=20
children), panel discussion on AUTISM AND THE HISTORY OF MEDICINE,=20
reception.

=B7	Wednesday, November 6, 7 and 9p: Short film programs, a=20
highlight at 7p is MOVE (a racial drama starring rapper turned actor=20
Coolio) and a highlight at 9p is TUG OF WAR (a look at the most=20
bizarre and riveting group of international sporting champions
you're ever likely to meet) from returning Australian filmmaker
Fiona Cochrane.

=B7	Thursday, November 7, 9a-9p: OHIO DAY, films written,=20
directed, photographed, and starring Ohioans, starting at 9a and=20
ending at 9p with the world premiere of THIS TRAIN (country girl=20
becomes possessed by the spirit of the Archangel Michael) from=20
celebrated Ohio artist Aralee Strange with a stellar cast including=20
Soupy Sales.

=B7	Friday, November 8: 9a-8p: Short films all day and night plus=20
the PREMIERE PRESENTATION at 5p of the feature film MYTH OF FATHER=20
(Jodie, a transsexual woman, comes out to her son and he begins a=20
journey to discover his "real" father.  This documentary is
an exploration of his and his family's journey of understanding,=20
culminating in a family reunion), panel discussion on TRANSGENDER AND=20
FAMILY, reception.

=B7	Saturday, November 9, 9a-1p: Day One of the SPECIAL EFFECTS=20
WORKSHOP with Los Angeles-based effects veteran Stephen Lebed=20
(currently Visual Effects Supervisor for the hit TV show CHARMED=20
starring Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan, and Holly Marie Combs, past=20
credits include INDEPENDENCE DAY).  Advance registration is=20
recommended, space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
