New Classes at
Fairmount Fine Arts Center

AUDITION - This is a practical, hands-on acting class for the seasoned or=20
aspiring actor. Saying you're an actor is one thing, working as an actor is=20
quite another, and auditioning is usually the hardest part of the job.  Here=

we'll learn the techniques that will help you get the roles.=20

Monday 6:30 - 8:00, Ages 16-Adult, Instructor: Noah Budin (with guest=20
directors)



STORYTELLING: Everyone loves a good story. Storytelling is one of the world'=
s=20
oldest and most revered forms of entertainment. Come and learn tips and=20
=E2=80=9Ctricks of the trade=E2=80=9D in this hands-on class. We will explor=
e different=20
styles of storytelling and resources for finding stories. We=E2=80=99ll hear=
=20
professional storytellers, and choose and cut our own stories for telling.=20
The craft of storytelling is fun and practical and can be used in a variety=20
of settings (besides bedtime)=E2=80=A6classrooms, religious venues, library=20=
programs,=20
and campfires are just a few. Come and join in the world=E2=80=99s second ol=
dest=20
profession!

Wednesday 6:00 - 7:30, Ages 10 - Adult, Instructor: Noah Budin



SONG WRITING: For musicians and non-musicians, this class will explore the=20
craft and process of song writing (with an emphasis on lyric writing). We=20
will write at least one song (lyrics and music) as a group and then focus on=
=20
honing our writing skills individually or in teams. We will complete as many=
=20
songs as time and inspiration allow, and evaluate our work through instructo=
r=20
and peer critique.=20

Wednesday 7:30 - 9:00, Ages 16-Adult, Instructor: Noah Budin



READER'S THEATER: Reader=E2=80=99s Theater is an exciting way to bring liter=
ature to=20
life through dramatic interpretation. It is minimal theater dependent upon=20
dramatic narrative. Reader=E2=80=99s Theater combines the best elements of t=
he arts=20
of storytelling and theater to create compelling dramatic presentations.

Thursday 7:30 - 9:00, Ages 16-Adult, Instructor: Noah Budin



Who=E2=80=99s Line Is It at FFAC? Theatrical Improvisation

They make it look so easy on TV! Here, students will learn the art and the=20
=E2=80=9Crules=E2=80=9D of improvisation =E2=80=93 what works and why, the=20=
=E2=80=9Cdos=E2=80=9D and the=20
=E2=80=9Cdon=E2=80=99ts,=E2=80=9D and the organic creation of scenes and ski=
ts without using a=20
script. Through classic improv warm-ups, games, and scene structures,=20
students will learn the skills of putting on an improvisational show while=20
building self-confidence and trust, exploring the nuances of teamwork, and=20
developing leadership skills. The last session will be a presentation for=20
friends and family. (This class is designed and being offered with an eye=20
toward putting together a resident FFAC Improv Company who will perform at=20
venues in the community.)

Saturday 3 - 4:30, Grades 9 =E2=80=93 12, Instructor: Noah Budin



Instructor: Noah Budin is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, recording artist,=
=20
actor, storyteller, song leader and educator with his hands in a diverse=20
variety of projects. He is the Youth Theater Director for FFAC, as well as a=
=20
performing artist with Young Audiences of Greater Cleveland. For the past=20
year and a half, Noah has appeared nightly in Cleveland=E2=80=99s smash hit=20=
=E2=80=9CTony=20
=E2=80=98n=E2=80=99 Tina=E2=80=99s Wedding.=E2=80=9D Noah=E2=80=99s first al=
bum of original music, Hallelujah Land:=20
Songs of Faith and Freedom, was released in May of 1998 and he gives concert=
s=20
on stages around the country.
