THE HUDSON PLAYERS TO OPEN DEARLY DEPARTED THIS WEEKEND=20

The Hudson Players will open their production of the "Drop Dead Funny" =
comedy Dearly Departed on Friday November 1st, followed immediately by =
an opening night reception for cast, crew and opening night audience at =
The Reserve Inn of Hudson.=20

"Opening night of any show is a traditional time in the theater for =
celebration," says Gary Maher, producer and cast member of Dearly =
Departed. "We think this also provides a great opportunity for the =
audience to see the unveiling of a great and remarkably funny production =
and then to meet with the cast and crew afterwards to discuss the show. =
This is especially true with the great environment provided by The =
Reserve Inn. They've been a great supporter of ours over the years and =
are a great Hudson tradition just like the Hudson Players. The show and =
reception promise to be a great time for all who attend"

Written by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones and directed by sought after =
regional director Rich Jagunic, Dearly Departed follows the antics of =
the beleaguered Turpin family members, who prove that living and dying =
in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. They've got a funeral =
to plan and - between the feuds, marital flings, and Macaroni and Ham =
Loaf Surprise - it may escalate into a multiple-coffin memorial service. =
By the time the Turpins sort through the hangovers, money problems, and =
headstone engraving options, they show that coping with life's losses =
can turn out to be often times hilarious. The oldest sibling, Ray-Bud, =
drinks himself silly as funeral bills mount. Junior, the younger son, is =
juggling financial ruin, a pack of no-neck "monster" children and a wife =
who suspects him of infidelity in the family car. Spinster sister =
Delightful copes with death as she copes with life: by devouring junk =
food. Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn to their friends and neighbors =
for comfort. Of course, the eccentric community of misfits manages to =
pull together and help each other in their time of need.

Sponsored by The Cleveland Clinic Urological Institute, the show runs =
November 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 & 16 and tickets are available by calling =
330-655-8522, via the Hudson Players website at www.hudsonplayers.com or =
for pre-sale at The Learned Owl Bookstore. Curtain times are 8 p.m. and =
tickets are $10 with group, student and senior citizen discounts =
available.=20

The Hudson Players are members of the Ohio Community Theatre =
Association, The American Association of Community Theaters and the =
Hudson Chamber of Commerce and have been entertaining area audiences for =
over 57 seasons as leading a non-profit community theater organization. =
They are one of Ohio's longest running community theaters.
