RE: BLACK NATIVITY
O Come all Yee Faithful to the 22nd season of Karamu Performing Arts Theatre
holiday production of Black Nativity written by Karamu Alumni, Langston
Hughes, December 6 thru January 5, 2003, in the Jelliffe Theatre. Black
Nativity will dazzle audiences of all ages with its rousing gospel music,
vibrant dance, brilliant new costumes and Langston Hughes' majestic poetry.
This year noted area Director & Choreographer Tom Evert of The Tom & Susana
Evert Dance Theatre,
and Musical Director, Clifton D. Beasley have skillfully blended the
multi-talents of some of Cleveland's finest gospel singers and performers to
bring the nativity story to life. Dancers, Nadyia Jones and John Saucer
from the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, perform as Mary and Joseph. The
combination of seasoned vocalist plus new talented soloist makes this
season's production for a must see for The Greater Cleveland Community.
Performance times for Black Nativity are 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and
Saturdays and at 3:00 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $20 and $25.00 Group
