BAD EPITAPH THEATER COMPANY ANNOUNCES
AUDITIONS FOR "STATE OF SIEGE" BY ALBERT CAMUS

Bad Epitaph Theater Company will hold open call auditions for STATE OF SIEG=
E

Theatre, 6415 Detroit Avenue in Cleveland on Monday, December 9, from 7 to
10 PM, with additional auditions on Tuesday, December 10, from 7 to 10 PM.
Callbacks will be Wednesday, December 11, from 7 to 10 pm.

Bad Epitaph needs 5 women (ages 25-40) and 3 men (ages 25-45). Roles are
for a company of actors to play various roles in an ensemble, as well as th=
e
role of Victoria. Some roles have been pre-cast. All roles will require a
great deal of physical acting and will be performed in mask. Interested
parties must phone Bad Epitaph at (216) 691-1615 to schedule an appointment=
.

Those auditioning will be asked to prepare one monologue, classical or
modern, and 8 to 16 bars of a song a cappella. The presentation must be no
longer than three minutes, total. If you do not have prepared materials
scripts can be provided, and you will be asked to sing "This Land is Your
Land" by Woody Guthrie. A strong singing voice is not required for this
play, just the ability to carry a tune in an ensemble setting. Please
provide a photo and resume if available.

Bad Epitaph's 2003 spring classic will be Albert Camus=B9 STATE OF SIEGE - th=
e
French existentialist's own dramatic re-imagining of the themes in his nove=
l
=B3The Plague=B2 - a work that brazenly asks, =B3what happens when a culture of
liberty is replaced by a cult of fear?"

Bad Epitaph Producing Director Thomas Cullinan brings his critically
acclaimed talents as a director to this play, as well as introducing the Ba=
d
Epitaph audience to his skills in mask work and movement to create a
theatrical event of distinction.

STATE OF SIEGE opens May 2, 2003, at Cleveland Public Theatre.

Bad Epitaph's mission is to produce contemporary drama, and modern
interpretations of the classics in an urban setting. It is also their
mission to assemble and educate a company of professional artists through
practical application of the theater arts, and to present a forum where wha=
t
is said is as important as how it is said.

In short, to create a theater company about whom it could be said, "After
your death you were better have a bad epitaph than their ill report while
you live." (Hamlet, II.ii)
