AUDITIONS FOR ERIC KAISER’S CHARGE FOR CPT’s BIG [BOX]

Saturday, December 7, 2-4:30pm, CPT Mainstage

Sunday, December 8, 4-6pm, CPT Mainstage

Director Greg Vovos is searching for actors for a new electrifying piece of Absurd drama entitled Charge. The show will be performed February 21-23, 2003 at the Cleveland Public Theatre as part of their new and exciting Big [Box] Series.

Lounging in bed your entire life in a giant steel room protecting you from the salmon sky, while simultaneously feeling the strife of “The Hood,” watching your veins disappear, betting your toes, all the while, having your own personal electronic assistants act out your every whim, dream and desire. The future never looked so bright. But, of course some things don’t change….no matter how comfortable your bed is. Samuel Beckett meets Boyz n the Hood in Eric Kaiser’s electrifying tragicomedy.

This is a piece that will excite and challenge actors of any shape, color or size. No “look” required. Just searching for actors who are excited by working on new plays that push the artists, the audience and theatre itself.

Characters:

GEORGE: Martha’s husband. Kato Buss is already cast in this role.

MARTHA: George’s wife.

PIERRE: Male synthetic friend. Can and is programmed to be many different characters/personalities, from drill sergeant to butler.

GIGI: Female synthetic friend. Can and is programmed to be many different characters/personalities from soothing psychologist to maid.

CHICLET: One who sells chiclets and invades the inner-world.

Eric Kaiser is an actor, playwright and vehemently not a director, that recently graduated with his MFA from UNLV. His play Spent, about the Cambodian Holocaust, is a recipient of a “Fourth Freedom Award” from the Kennedy Center, and his play Sustained is presently a finalist for the Actors Theatre of Louisville’s “Heidman Award.” Eric lives in Brooklyn New York and helps run a recreation program for developmentally disabled adults.

Contact Director Greg Vovos with any questions or to let him know you will be auditioning at iorhino at yahoo.com. Do not call the theatre! It is preferred but not mandatory that you show up to the Saturday audition if possible since Sunday will be used as a callback.

Break a leg!
