Weathervane Playhouse presents Arsenic and Old Lace, Joseph Kesselring's=20
comedy about two batty, but loveable, Brewster sisters, Abby and Martha. =20
They are the dispensers of cheer and goodwill to all and the makers of=20
delicious elderberry wine that's a real killer!  This bit of merriment will=20
take the stage from January 13 through February 9, 2003.  Abby and Martha ar=
e=20
sweet old ladies who do good deeds like providing toys for poor children,=20
making beef broth for Officer Brophy's ailing wife, making quince jam for th=
e=20
minister who lives next door and bringing peace and happiness to old men=E2=
=80=A6 by=20
murdering them =E2=80=A6 twelve of them so far!  Their nephew, Jonathan, has=
 also=20
murdered twelve men and is determined to retain his rightful title as=20
America's most prolific murderer!  Then there's Teddy, who confuses himself=20
with Theodore Roosevelt and believes that the Panama Canal runs through the=20
cellar of his home.  And also Dr. Einstein whose profession is disguising th=
e=20
features of underworld characters through plastic surgery.  Yes, it's a grim=
=20
collection of characters but they have been assembled solely to make us=20
laugh.  And who couldn't use a good laugh these days?!
Arsenic and Old Lace, one of the funniest and most famous comedies ever to=20
appear on the stage, by Joseph Kesselring, at Weathervane Playhouse January=20
13 through February 9, 2003.  Low-cost preview performances on Wednesday and=
=20
Thursday, January 15 & 16 with official opening on Friday, January 17.  A=20
special luncheon/matinee event will be held on Saturday, February 1.  Lunch=20
at 12:30 p.m., matinee at 2:30 p.m.  Combination ticket $28. .  Appropriate=20
