This is of huge importance to anyone involved in the creative arts,
Ohio or not. This is not a new link or a new cause, but I feel it's
important to share.
Lot47 Films, the production company behind last year's critically
acclaimed film "L.I.E." has an important message to share about the
censorship that the outdated MPAA rating system has created. "L.I.E."
was unfairly rated NC-17, which legally means that no one under 17 may
watch this film, regaurdless of what their parents think. The film
deals with a teenage boy and his sexual awakening in a very ungraphic
manner. However, due to the presence of a pedophile, the film was rated
NC-17 and teenagers cannot see the film hailed as the best portrayal of
teenage life in years. It's not graphic like Lolita (1998, rated R) but
simply unfairly rated. Lot47 proposes an "A" or "M" rating for films
that may not be R-rated but certainly are not "NC-17," which is
commonly a rating associated with pornographic or excessively violent
film, which L.I.E. is neither. The site linked allows you to write a
letter to your senator supporting the "A" rating, or you can simply
become informed on the issue.

Creative freedom is in jeopardy, please support your fellow artists.
Thank you for your time.
