DOBAMA THEATRE RECEIVES LOCAL HONORS
**Two 2002 Plain Dealer “Top Local Productions”
****Four 2002 Times Newspaper Theater Tribute Awards

Dobama Theatre of Cleveland Heights is being honored by the Plain Dealer and
The Times Newspapers for its groundbreaking productions in 2002. Tony
Brown, Plain Dealer Theater Critic, offered two 2002 Dobama productions as
being among the Plain Dealer’s “Top Local Productions” of 2002. Roy Berko,
Times Newspapers Theater Critic, honored Dobama Theatre’s 2002 productions
with four Times Newspaper’s Theater Tribute Awards.

Two Dobama Theatre productions, “Three in the Back, Two in the Head” by
Jason Sherman and “The Old Neighborhood” by David Mamet, made the Plain
Dealer’s list of the top twelve local productions. Brown called “Three in
the Back, Two in the Head” an “electrifying, devastating play about war and
its human toll” and said “The Old Neighborhood” was “a lacerating trio of
playlets about being Jewish in America.” The Plain Dealer also noted the
impact of the passing in March of Donald Bianchi, co-founder of Dobama
Theatre as one of the top theater stories of 2002.

Roy Berko of The Times Newspapers honored Dobama Theatre with eleven awards
for its 2002 productions, most specifically for actors’ performances. In
addition, seven actors received accolades for their roles: Bernie Canepari
Seth Gordon and Robert Hawkes, each for “Three in the Back, Two in the Head”
, Yolanda Davis for “Constant Star”, Robert Ellis and Tyson Postma, each for
“The Late Henry Moss” and Nan Wray for “Homebody/Kabul”. Russ Borski
received an award for direction and Jimmy Helmes an award for fight
choreography for “The Late Henry Moss” “The Late Henry Moss”. Dobama
Theatre received two of the awards for general excellence in production for
“The Late Henry Moss” and “Two in the Back, Three in the Head.”
