Dear Neohiopal list, friends & collegues:

Cesear's Forum is pleased to continue its run of STEVIE, through February
8th, at Kennedy's Down Under, Playhouse Square Center, Cleveland, Ohio.
STEVIE is based on the life of the unconventional and ironically witty
British poet Stevie Smith. Written by Hugh Whitemore (who recently received
an Emmy for his screenplay of the HBO Film THE GATHERING STORM), the cast
includes Cleveland actors Sheila E. Maloney, Lee Mackey and John Kolibab.

Plain Dealer Arts Reporter, Carolyn Jack, described the play "as a droll and
moving portrait of a woman who deliberately cocooned herself in a narrow life
that allowed her mind to be adventurous." She writes: "Lee Mackey (sic, as
the Aunt) very nearly pockets the show for her own. She turns her moments
onstage into a string of jewels, each of which glows as if it had been caught
for an instant in light." She goes on to say: "Maloney's skill is not
overmatched by Mackey's. Her Stevie reclaims the viewers attention every
time by the force of a personality that combines a bright and youthful
impetuousness - an ever fresh point of view - with the shadows of despair
that eventually leads to a suicide attempt. Maloney gives Stevie the
charisma that justifies Whitemore's having written an entire play about her.
