THE COLLABORATION
=20
The CCC Center for Arts for Arts and Culture, in partnership with CCC's =
Office of Diversity and Community Outreach, is proud to present the =
Cleveland premiere of internationally-acclaimed Cleo Parker Robinson =
Dance in celebration of Black History Month. Cleveland's own Cleveland =
Contemporary Dance Theatre will be joining the company onstage in =
selected works.
=20
Michael Medcalf, Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre's artistic =
director, is a prot=E9g=E9 of Ms. Cleo Parker Robinson, founder and =
artistic director of Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. Mr. Medcalf spent =
several years as a dancer with Ms. Robinson's company, and this dynamic =
joint performance in Cleveland represents their first-ever collaborative =
project. The project has been crafted to not only allow teacher and =
prot=E9g=E9 the opportunity to work together again, but also to create a =
Cleveland community connection for the work of Cleo Parker Robinson =
Dance.

CLEO PARKER ROBINSON DANCE
Cleo Parker Robinson Dance (CPRD) was founded with the belief that the =
language of dance transcends the boundaries of culture, class and age. =
CPRD is committed to bringing dance into the lives of many diverse =
people and is composed of a professional modern dance ensemble, =
year-round dance school, three-hundred seat theatre, in-school lecture =
demonstration series and international summer dance institute program. =
CPRD also provides a program for at risk youth called Project =
Self-Discovery (PSD), which provides the arts to these youth in Denver =
as an alternative to gang activity, peer pressure and substance abuse.
=20
Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre
Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre is a professionally-established =
not-for-profit cultural institution and the first of its kind =
established in Northeast Ohio dedicated to celebrating, teaching and =
promoting diversity through dance while bringing forth the contributions =
African-Americans and others from diverse communities have made to the =
art form of dance. In only four years, CCDT has assembled a =
multi-cultural company of dancers and has quickly gained recognition in =
the region as "a first-rate company rooted in the tradition of black =
dance in America" (The Plain Dealer, February 2002).
