Weathervane Playhouse Announces AUDITIONS BY APPOINTMENT for
GYPSY (Round 2)
A musical fable suggested by the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee

    (Akron, Ohio, February 26, 2003, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE...)  Weathervane 
Playhouse will hold AUDITIONS BY APPOINTMENT for the musical GYPSY, book by 
Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.  
Auditions will be held at Weathervane Playhouse (1301 Weathervane Lane, 
Akron, In the Valley off Merriman Road) on Sunday & Monday, March 23 & 24, 
2003 beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Callbacks are scheduled for April 5 at 3:00 
p.m., April 6 at 6:00 p.m. & April 7 at 6:30 p.m.
Large Cast requirements:
Men & Women ages mature teens - 50s
    Children ages 10 - 15

Prepare:    An upbeat musical theater song.  Bring sheet music in the correct 
key.
An accompanist will be provided.  Be prepared to dance.

Director for the production of Gypsy is Nancy Cates.  Cates last directed 
Communicating Doors for Weathervane Playhouse.  An honors graduate of the 
University of Virginia, Nancy has received five sets of regional and critics' 
awards for excellence in directing.

Choreographer for the production is Geoffrey Graham Hughes, Artistic Director 
of Ohio Ballet.  Musical Director is Ron Hazlett.

All roles are available. Weathervane Playhouse is committed to 
non-traditional casting.  Except in cases where race, gender, age or 
disability is essential to the play, all roles will be cast on the basis of 
talent.  Weathervane Playhouse is a community theater.  All performers in all 
productions are volunteers.
