About The Chosen:
This award-winning adaptation from the novel is the story of two boys, two
fathers and two very different Jewish communities-"five blocks and a world
apart" As childhood friends Reuven and Danny grow to manhood, they are
forced to learn important lessons about each other, their fathers, and
themselves. It is a story of friendship, family and difficult choices that
lead to the path of understanding, respect and reconciliation.

The following programs are being presented in conjunction with The Chosen:

Surround Film:
A special screening of the film Focus by Neal Slavin, will be shown on
Wednesday, March 19th at 7:00pm at the Madstone Centrum Theater on Euclid
Heights Boulevard at Coventry. Tickets are $7.50 for adults and $4.50 for
JCC and Madstone members, senior citizens and students, and are available by
calling the Halle Theatre Box Office at (216) 382-4000 Ext. 274 or the
Madstone Centrum Box Office at (216) 321-1562. The film screening is
generously supported by the L.A Zaas Memorial Film Fund.

About Focus:
Focus (2002), by Neal Slavin, is based on Arthur Miller's novel of the same
name. Focus tells the story of a husband and wife mistakenly identified as
Jews by their Brooklyn neighbors during the waning days of World War II. It
is the story of Lawrence Newman, a mild mannered "nebbish" who is thrust
into the ugly world of bigotry, hatred and racism. The challenges that this
otherwise unmemorable character faces change him and those around him. The
film explores the evolvement of the characters as they undergo this replay
of one of history's more unpleasant cycles.
TIME: 107 minutes.
