Ever wonder what's up with those BIG ships that ply the Great Lakes?  How=
 about learning fascinating facts and stories about life on the Inland Se=
as to share with delighted visitors from around the world?  Heck, how 'bo=
ut just hanging out on a sunny day down at the East Ninth Street Pier thi=
s Summer with all of the bicentennial excitement, Amistad, Tall Ships, an=
d of course, the Labor Day Air Show?!

Well then you're in luck.  Whether you're a land lubber or a retired capt=
ain, the Steamship William G. Mather Museum is looking for enthusiastic, =
outgoing folks to become volunteer Tour Guides.  The Mather offers FREE t=
raining and paid parking, including a comprehensive reference manual, lot=
s of opportunities to practice, and the best volunteer crew on the Great =
Lakes.  Heck, we even feed you a hearty steamboat dinner!

Training is on three consecutive Saturdays: March 22, 29, and April 5 fro=
m 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.  The Mather's public season starts the first weekend=
 of May, and if you like working with kids and seniors, there are many re=
served groups starting in April and throughout the season.  We have volun=
teer opportunities of all kinds, so if being a tour guide isn't your thin=
g, give us a call to see how you can help.
