Kulas Foundation Helps to Bring In the Blood by Suzan-Lori Parks to Life at
Dobama Theatre

Dobama’s March production of Suzan-Lori Parks’ In the Blood has received a
generous grant from the Kulas Foundation which will support the creation of
soundscapes created by Bill Ransom and provide for live performance of the
Bill Ransom Quartet on two dates.

“The well-known local musician Bill Ransom will create original music and
sound landscapes,” says Director Sonya Robbins.  Ransom, Robbins and
featured actress Rasheryl McCreary have collaborated before to great effect.
Robbins says, “Richard Ingraham and I will be collaboratively working to
create original sound and music for the piece.”

In addition, the Bill Ransom Quartet will be playing live jazz before the
Saturday, March 15th and Saturday, March 22nd performances of In the Blood.
Ticketholders can experience this live jazz music from approximately 7:15 to
7:45 p.m. on those two dates, prior to the 8:00 p.m. performance of In the
Blood.

Bill Ransom is a drummer and percussionist who has studied with Guy Remonko
(Ohio University), Tim Adams, (Pittsburgh Symphony), Tom Freer (Cleveland
Orchestra) and jazz greats, Peter Erskine (Weather Report) and Victor Lewis
(Bobby Watson).  He has recorded and toured with various local and national
artists such as Najee, Diane Reeves, Gerald Levert, Marion Meadows, Pamela
Williams, Eddie Harris, Mary Wilson, formerly of the Supremes and Beth Hart.
Ransom is on the faculty of the Cleveland Music School Settlement and is
Percussion Advisor for Shaker Heights School System.
