The Eugene S. & Blanche R. Halle Theatre is currently accepting submissions
to the 2003 Dorothy Silver Playwriting Competition.  A special fund of the
Jewish Community Center of Cleveland supports the annual competition which
is designed to encourage new plays that provide significant, fresh
perspectives on the range of Jewish experience.

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE:	
Original Works
Not previously produced at the time of submission
Suitable for full-length presentation
Directly concerned with the Jewish experience
Postmarked no later than May 1, 2003

THE PRIZE:  $1,000 and a staged reading of the winning play at the JCC's
Eugene S. & Blanche R. Halle Theatre in Cleveland.  This award is paid in
$500 increments with the first payment being on announcement of award and
the second at or near the date of the reading to help defray travel costs
for the playwright during the brief production period.  All winners are
announced in American Theatre magazine.

NOTE:  A condition of the award is that the JCC Halle Theatre will have
permission to perform the first fully staged production of the winning
script following the staged reading without payment of additional royalties.
