Solon Center for the Arts to Audition Students for Summer Musical

Solon Center for the Arts will be holding auditions for The Hobbit -a =
Musical Play- on Monday, May 12, and Tuesday, May 13, from 5:00 - 7:00 =
pm.  The Show will feature up to forty students 3rd grade through high =
school. =20

=20

Performance dates are Fridays and Saturdays, July 11, 12, 18 and 19 at =
8pm and Sunday, July 13 at 2pm.  Thursday, July 10, the Center will hold =
a special preview for Seniors at 8 pm.=20

The Hobbit, based upon the book by Ruth Perry and adapted from the works =
of Professor J.R.R. Tolkien, is the first in the "Lord of the Rings" =
series.  This children's musical is about Bilbo Baggins, a respectable =
hobbit with no taste for adventure.  One day a group of dwarves descend =
on Bilbo's quiet home and decide that he is just the hobbit to be their =
burglar on a mission of high adventure!  It takes the great and =
mysterious wizard to coerce Bilbo to join the dwarves - and the =
adventure begins!

Co-Director Patti Susman, a graduate from Cleveland State University =
with a B.A. in Dramatic Arts with an emphasis in Children's theatre, has =
taught acting for twenty years.  After joining the committee that saved =
Old City Hall, Susman helped open the Art Center by joining the theater =
faculty and continues by directing Youth Theater throughout the year. =20

Co-Director Joseph Morin, is a relatively new faculty member at Solon =
Center for the Arts.  Morin a graduate from Anderson University with a =
Bachelor of Arts in Voice joined the Art Center faculty in January where =
he teaches voice lessons for all ages.  In addition to his work at the =
center, Morin is the music director of the adult and youth choirs at St. =
Anthony of Padua and also is known as the founding manager/director of =
the Cleveland Stars in Motion.=20

Auditions will be held by appointment on Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May =
13 from 5:00 -7:00 pm.  Students should be prepared to sing a song and =
read from the script.  Solon Center for the Arts is located at 6315 SOM =
Center Road in Solon on the corner of Bainbridge Road. =20
