An encore broadcast of APPLAUSE with host Dee Perry, airs Thursday, May =
1 at 7:30 p.m. on WVIZ/PBS...

			*	John Grabowski, Professor of Public History at Case Western Reserve =
University, talks about a new book Cleveland, Then and Now.  Compiled by =
John and his wife, Diane Ewart Grabowski, this before-and-after book is =
filled with beautiful and memorable photographs of the early days of =
Cleveland, right along side those same sites of today.  Certain current =
landmarks like the Terminal Tower, the Rock Hall, and recent stadiums =
characterize Cleveland...but what did the landscape look like before all =
these buildings were here?  And, what did Moses Cleveland envision back =
in 1796? Cleveland, Then and Now reveals some of the images that =
attracted so many to the "Then" small village, which is "Now" known as =
Cleveland.

			*	Some local women are shaking up Northeast Ohio with their hip dance =
moves.  ideastream's David C. Barnett takes a look at dance students all =
over the state who are serious about studying the ancient art of =
Oriental Dance...better known in the U.S. as "belly dancing."  From =
costumes to choreography, this eastern form of dance has influenced the =
west in countless ways.

			*	What do Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis all have in common =
and what does it have to do with a local blues singer?  They all made =
their first recordings at Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, and =
recently Cleveland native, Austin "Walkin' Cane" Charanghat (pronounced =
Shar-in-got) got the chance to record his own album in this historic =
setting where legends are made.   And, on Saturday, April 19th "Walkin' =
Cane" will hold a CD release party for his new album at Fat Fish Blue in =
downtown Cleveland.
