=09Opening its season with A CHORUS LINE, Porthouse audiences will be mesmerized
by the sizzling music and the exhilarating dance moves that made this
production one of Broadway=92s longest running shows. The story of twenty-four
aspiring dancers auditioning for an 8-member chorus, this production speaks
directly to the heart of anyone who has ever had a dream. Running June 13
through June 28, A CHORUS LINE is directed by Cain Park Artistic Director,
Victoria Bussert and features the choreography of Broadway veteran, MaryAnn
Black, who, not-so-coincidentally, performed in A Chorus Line as Maggie during
its hey-day.
=09In July, Porthouse Theatre fills its stage with the wit and wisdom of Oscar
Wilde=92s THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. There=92s no question as to why this
play has been a favorite with audiences for over 100 years. Hilariously
ingenious, the story involves the mistaken identity of two young gents living
in 1890=92s England who have taken to bending the truth to add excitement to
their lives. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST by far includes some of the
best-loved lines in English literature. Directed by John Woodson, Artistic
director of the highly acclaimed Warehouse Theatre in North Carolina, EARNEST
runs July 4 through July 19. During opening weekend, Porthouse Theatre will
donate $4 to the American Heart Association, with whom they have partnered
with for a summer-long campaign to raise funds and awareness for the
Association. The partnership helps celebrate Porthouse=92s 35th anniversary
season, =93A Season of the Heart.=94
=09Rodgers & Hammerstein=92s musical comedy OKLAHOMA! lights up the stage in
Porthouse=92s final production of the season, July 25th through August 10th.
Featuring such well-known numbers as =93Oh What A Beautiful Morning=94 and =93The
Surrey With the Fringe On Top=94 audiences won=92t be able to stop from
toe-tapping. Set in 1900=92s Oklahoma territory, the story of Curly, the
cowboy, and Jud, the hired farmhand, rivaling for the affections of lovely
farm girl Laurey will warm audience=92s hearts. OKLAHOMA! is directed by
Porthouse Theatre=92s Artistic Director, Terri Kent and choreographed by
Producing Director, John R. Crawford.
=09Single tickets prices range from $15 - $22, depending on the day of the week.
Special discounts are available for groups of 10 or more, seniors and
students. Subscriptions to the entire =93Season of the Heart,=94 are still
available. Subscriptions range in price from $24 to $45. Reserve tickets by
