CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH -  Cain Park opens its 2003 musical theater season
with the quintessential musical classic, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, directed by
Fred Sternfeld with musical direction by Larry Hartzell.  Rich in historica=
l
and ethnic detail, it has touched audiences around the world with its humor=
,
warmth, and honesty.  Cain Park previews the musical on Thursday, June 19;
opens on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21; runs June 26, 27, 28, 29,
July 2, 3, 5; and closes July 6 with a sign-interpreted/audio-described
performance.  Showtime is at 8:00pm in the Evans Amphitheater.

Tickets for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF are $8.50 for the preview on June 19, $10
for opening weekend on June 20 and 21.  For June 26, 27, 28, 29 and July 2,
3, 5 and 6 tickets are $18 center/front sides, $16 back sides, and $14 lawn
in advance; and $20/18/16 day of show.  There is no July 4 performance.
Cleveland Heights residents presenting a Recreation ID and people presentin=

a Military ID receive a $3 discount.  Children=B9s tickets are 50% off when
attending with a parent if all attending family members hold Cleveland
Heights Recreation IDs.  A $2 discount is available when presenting a senio=

citizen ID, a student ID, and a Friends of Cain Park membership card.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is based on Sholem Aleichem stories by special
permission of Arnold Perl, with book by Joseph Stein, music by Jerry Bock,
lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and original New York Stage production directed
and choreographed by Jerome Robbins.  One of the first musicals to defy
Broadway=B9s established rules of commercial success, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF ran
for 3,242 performances on Broadway with Zero Mostel in the lead role of
Tevye.  With its celebrated score which features beloved songs such as
=B3Sunrise, Sunset=B2, =B3If I Were a Rich Man=B2, and =B3Matchmaker=B2, it continues t=
o
touch the hearts of people around the world with its universal theme of
=B3Tradition!=B2 cutting across race, nationality, and religion.
