CAIN PARK ARTS FESTIVAL TO RUN JULY 11-13
One of America=B9s Best Continues Its Tradition of Excellence!

(Cleveland Heights, OH)    The Annual Cain Park Arts Festival welcomes the
public Friday, July 11-Sunday, July 13 for a weekend of outdoor art and
entertainment.  Rated one of the top 25 arts festivals in America by
Sunshine Artist  Magazine, this event is supported by The Friends of Cain
Park and Sky Bank with promotional support by WCLV 104.9 FM, Classic Pops
WRMR 1420 AM, and WELW.com Star 1330 AM.   For information call (216)

Hours for the festival are Friday, 3-8 pm, Saturday, 11-8 pm, and Sunday, 1=
2
noon-6 pm.  Over 160 artists from around the world with specialties in oils=
,
acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, paints, drawings, sculpture, clay,
glass, jewelry, and fiber will be featured.  The Audrey and Harvey Feinberg
Art Gallery will be open during the festival and live entertainment will
occur in both theaters.  In addition to the variety of art and music, a wid=
e
array of gourmet food from the area=B9s finest restaurants and caterers will
be provided including Arabica Cafe, Bailey=B9s Boardwalk Fries, Crepe
Expectations, European Almonds, Falafel Caf=E9, Kasba, Pearl of the Orient,
Pizza House, Raintree, Shticks Vegetarian Kitchens, and The Specialty Chefs=
.

In late 1971, Audrey Feinberg played a major role in the establishment of
the Art Gallery at Cain Park.  Later, at Audrey=B9s urging, the City of
Cleveland Heights launched the first Cain Park Arts Festival.  The Festival
began as a two-day open air exhibit of leading American artists, craftsmen,
and artisans.  Today, it has expanded to three days and is one of the most
successful shows of its kind in the nation.  In the years following Audrey
Feinberg=B9s death her husband, Harvey Feinberg, continued to make the Arts
Festival a success.  With his passing in 1998, the tradition and excellence
is carried on by Festival Director George Kozman, assisted by Festival
coordinator Honey Feinberg.

The Arts Festival Parking Shuttle will run Saturday, July 12 from 11 am -11
pm, and Sunday, July 13 from 12-6 pm.  The cost is $1 per person each way
with babies in arms free.  The shuttle will depart from the  Cleveland
Heights City Hall located at 40 Severance Circle.  This service is
co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Cleveland Heights, Judson Retirement
Community and Friends of Cain Park.

In addition to the wide variety of visiting exhibits, the Audrey and Harvey
Feinberg Art Gallery will feature an exhibition of works by the artists fro=
m
the 40th Street Studio. The exhibit titled =B3Out of the Ashes,=B2 features
works by Lucette Johnson, Helen Frankovits Libens, Susan Donovan Lowe, and
Johanna Page.=20

Appealing to a wide range of tastes, an assortment of free music concerts
will be presented.  On Friday, July 11 from 6-8 pm, Mustard=B9s Retreat, will
take the Evans Amphitheater stage with their smartly goofy parodies
accompanied by guitar, electric bass, dulcimer, harmonica, penny whistle an=
d
mandolin.  Free music continues Saturday, July 12 with the folk-rock duo
Under the Tree who will perform in the Evans Amphitheater from 12:15-2:15
pm.  The Cincinnati duo, Wild Carrot, is scheduled to take the stage from
2:45-4:45 pm.  Their set will include songs from the 1800=B9s, standards from
the 1930=B9s, and some of their original music.  Continuing the live
entertainment from 5:15-7:15 pm, Swamp Boogie Queens will whip up some high
energy blues and R&B. Then, in a concert co-presented by the Friends of Cai=
n
Park, it=B9s high energy zydeco wild man Terrance Simien at 8 pm.  Get ready
for Mardi Gras in Cleveland Heights!

Sunday, July 13 brings jazz to the Evans Amphitheater with Roberto Ocasio
Latin Jazz Experience from 12 noon-2:45 pm, and Forecast from 3:15-6 pm.
Both shows are co-presented by the Northeast Ohio Jazz Society.

This year=B9s Arts Festival has events for the whole family, featuring a
weekend of KIDZART shows in the Alma Theater.  Friday, July 11 brings
entertainer David Kaplan from 3:45-4:45 pm, and 5:45-6:45 pm, for a show
full of shameless gimmickry that is sure to amuse and amaze. Saturday, July
13 brings The Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers with traditional
African and African-American folktales and Fables from 12 noon-1 pm, and
1:30-2:30 pm.  Famed Cleveland storyteller/folksinger Noah Budin will
entertain 3-4pm, 4:30-5:30pm and 6-7pm.

The Arts Festival KIDZART winds up on Sunday, July 13 with two performances
by Prairie Orchid from 12:15-1:15 & 3:15-4:15 pm.  Also on Sunday Mr.
Hatbox, also known as Jonathan Wilhelm, will perform from 1:45-2:45 pm &
4:45-5:45 pm.

Because of limited space and crowded pathways, no courtesy vehicles will be
in operation during the Arts Festival.  No dogs, bicycles, rollerblades or
skateboards will be admitted.

Cain Park, a municipally owned and operated summer arts park and one of the
nation=B9s oldest landmark outdoor theaters, is produced by the City of
Cleveland Heights, and is located on Superior Road between Lee and South
Taylor Roads.  The Evans Amphitheater is easily accessible by the
Goodnor/Superior Road entrance to the park, the Alma Theater by the Lee Roa=
d
entrance to the park.
