Cleveland, Ohio -- Of the 220 shows participating this August in the 2003
New York International Fringe Festival (Fringe NYC), at least one will
represent the Cleveland theatrical community. Local playwright/actor
Michael Sepesy will bring his one-man comedy LOSERVILLE to the Big Apple
as part of the largest multi-arts festival in North America. The festival
regularly attracts nearly 40,000 theatergoers annually. 
Chosen from over 720 applicants to take part in the event, Sepesy makes
his New York debut with LOSERVILLE. The show, originally presented as
part of Cleveland Public Theatre’s Big [BOX] series in January 2003,
satirizes American culture through a series of 14 vignettes -- snapshots
of American losers. 
About LOSERVILLE, Seth Gordon, former Associate Producer of New York’s
Primary Stages and now the Director of New Play Development at the
Cleveland Play House, remarked, "Sepesy inhabits characters from the
deepest, darkest and most creative corners of his, and our imaginations."
Linda Eisenstein, a reviewer for The Plain Dealer, calls the show
"wonderfully written and beautifully performed." Fellow Clevelander Nancy
Burkinshaw directed the play. 
Sepesy sees the experience as an opportunity to bring not only his work,
but the work of Cleveland artists to the attention of New York audiences.

A member of the Cleveland Play House’s Playwrights Unit, Sepesy is a also
a professional actor and playwriting instructor. Nancy Burkinshaw is a
director, actor, drama teacher, and produced playwright.
