TO HOST 3rd ANNUAL COMMUNITY TALENT CONTEST

"RISING STAR" COMPETITION OFFERS CLEVELAND-AREA INDIVIDUALS THE OPPORTUNITY
TO COMPETE FOR CASH PRIZES AND A

CHANCE TO PERFORM ON THE STATE THEATRE STAGE

CLEVELAND, OH - Playhouse Square Center is inviting talented Northeast Ohio
individuals and groups to participate in its 3rd annual community talent
contest. Whether you're eight or eighty, a clog dancer, an opera singer, or
a rap artist, you're invited to participate in this year's "Rising Star"
talent competition.

Qualifying rounds will take place at Playhouse Square on September 4 and 6,
2003. Twelve finalists will be chosen from each performance category (Vocal
and Dance) to perform in a final competition at Playhouse Square's
Centerfest open house arts festival, which is scheduled for Saturday,
September 20 from noon to 5 p.m. Winners from the finalist rounds will be
recognized at an awards ceremony during Centerfest and will have the chance
to perform on the State Theatre Stage. Winners will also receive cash
prizes. PLEASE NOTE: You MUST attend one of the qualifying rounds to be
eligible to participate in the final competition

No entry fee is required for the Rising Star community talent competition.
Applications include detailed information about performance categories and
age divisions and can be accessed by logging on to
www.playhousesquare.com/centerfest

216.771.4444, ext. 5285 to request an application. Completed applications
must be postmarked by Friday, August 29, 2003.

Originally named Palooza, Centerfest debuted in 1998 as a community open
house inviting the public to view the newly renovated Allen Theatre. As a
result of the festival's smashing success (10,000 people enjoyed the full
day of free entertainment and activities), Playhouse Square has sponsored
the event each year since. This year's event is made possible by the
generous help of the Ohio Arts Council and Dominion East Ohio Gas. Playhouse
Square hopes to attract more than 9,000 people to this year's celebration.

Downloadable tickets to Centerfest are accessible by logging on to
www.playhousesquare.com/centerfest
<http://www.playhousesquare.com/centerfest> . Although the open house is
FREE, these tickets are being distributed to the public to provide important
information about parking, register-to-win drawings, and spotlight
performances. While tickets are not required for entry into any of the day's
activities, they will serve as useful tools to navigate through Centerfest.
Because entry into all performances is free, admittance will be on a
first-come, first-served basis. The Centerfest Web site also offers access
to downloadable press releases and images for members of the media.
