Weathervane Playhouse and Community AIDS Network present "Forever Plaid,"
written by Stuart Ross and James Raitt. "Forever Plaid" features popular songs of
the late 1950s and early 1960s, sung in the "boy group" harmony style of the
period. The performance will be performed in a staged concert format - in
costume, but will not feature sets, props or full orchestra.
Performers will be Ian Atwood, Colin Cook, G.A. Taggett and Curtis L. Young.
The production is directed by Curt Arnold with Charles Eversole as Musical
Director.
The Ensemble:
Ian Atwood (Francis) As a child actor, Ian enjoyed a brief moment of national
fame as one of the stars of the short-lived PBS series, "Annie and the Music
Man." He pursued a career as a professional baseball player, playing for two
seasons in the minor leagues of the St. Louis Cardinals organization until his
hopes were cut short by injury. He returned to the stage in 2002.
Colin Cook (Jinx) is very honored to perform for so worthy a cause as the
Community AIDS Network. He also performed in last year's "Falsettos" benefit
concert, and found it to be a very fulfilling experience. Colin was last seen as
The Courier in the Beck Center's "1776." Other credits include "Fiddler on
the Roof" (Perchik), "Hello, Again" (The College Boy), "Parade" (Frankie Epps),
"Zombie Prom" (Josh), "Saturday Night" (Bobby) and "The Trestle at Pope Lick
Creek" (Dalton).
Curtis L. Young (Smudge) holds a degree in theatre from Ashland University,
and was last seen as a dead person in Charenton Theatre's production of "Spoon
River Anthology." Beck Center audiences might recognize Curtis from this
season's productions of "Hello, Again," in which he appeared as The Soldier, and
"Annie," in which he played Rooster.
G.A. Taggett (Sparky) A Michigan native, G.A. is thrilled to be a part of
"Forever Plaid" and helping The AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. As an actor,
he has most recently been seen Edward Rutledge in "1776" at the Beck Center.
Some favorite shows and roles include "Parade" (Tom Watson), "La Cage Aux
Folles" (Edouard Dindon), "Much Ado About Nothing" (Benedic) and "Bent" (Horst).
He can be seen this fall in as Arthur in "Discordia" at Cleveland Public
Theatre and is a member of "Flanagan's Wake" at the Powerhouse Pub. As a director,
he has handled such productions as "The Rocky Horror Show," "The Compleat
Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)," "Lend Me A Tenor" and "Hamlet."
The Directing Team:
Curt Arnold (Director) has been involved with over 80 productions in the last
26 years as an actor, director and stage manager. In the northern Ohio area,
he has worked with Beck Center, Huntington Playhouse, Dobama Theatre, Clague
Playhouse, Cassidy Theatre, Lakeland Theatre, Berea Summer Theatre, and
Weathervane Playhouse. Last December, he completed over 18 months as an understudy
in "Tony and Tina's Wedding." Recently, he directed "From Here: A Century of
Voices from Ohio" by Cleveland playwright Eric Coble, currently being
performed around the state in conjunction with Ohio's bicentennial.
Charles Eversole (musical director) has served as musical director and /or
supervisor for over fifty musical theater productions, including national tours
of "The Who's Tommy" and A Grand Night for Singing," and nationwide
performances of the musical satire company "The News in Revue". He has been an
instructor at New York University's CAP 21 Studio and the American Musical and
Dramatic Academy, a composer in the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop, and a member of the
Manhattan Association of Cabaret Artists, having performed at Don't Tell
Mama, Rose's Turn, and the Duplex in NYC. As a singer/actor, Charles has
performed with Cleveland Opera, Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Lyric Opera Cleveland,
and most recently in "Tony and Tina's Wedding." He is currently an instructor
at Cuyahoga Community College, and the Music Director of the Singing Angels.
