announces final AUDITIONS for the musical

“Honk”

Wednesday, Sept. 10, 7 p.m.

Bring a song to sing with accompaniment. Pianist provided.

Readings will be from the script.

Performance dates will be Oct. 31-Nov.2,  Nov. 7-9, Nov. 13-16. 

“Honk” is a musicalized telling of ‘The Ugly Duckling’ – but it is so much more. It examines how easy we as a society can belittle what is different, and can make outcasts.  Ugly, the unfortunate new duckling, who is bigger and well, has a face only a mother could love, is outcast by all of the creatures in the farmyard.  Only the Cat, who has gastronomical designs on this duckling, who could make an entire meal, shows interest in the young fellow. Ugly gets lost, and heads out on an adventure, through which he finds fellow creatures willing to give him direction, kindness, and, of course, in the end, fellowship.  This travail is completed through the a bevy of an ensemble cast who portray turkeys, hens, cats, geese, fish, and of course, the requisite beautiful young swan who befriends Ugly.  As actors, these characters are only suggested by the costume.  The great fun is to convey the animal to the audience.

Lead characters include: Ida, Drake, Ugly, Turkey, Cat, Bullfrog, and Goose. There is an adult/teen ensemble and a small youth chorus (4 – 8 children).

There are big parts and small parts -- all fun parts!
