KSU'S SCHOOL OF THEATRE & DANCE IN SEARCH OF 2 AFRICAN-AMERICAN
CHILDREN ACTORS FOR MEDEA
Kent, Ohio - Kent State University's School of Theatre & Dance is in
search of two young actors for the production of MEDEA. Auditions for
the roles of Medea's children will be Sunday, September 28 at 6 PM in
the Music & Speech Center on the main Kent State University campus.
Children auditioning should be between the ages of 6 - 11 and have
previous stage experience. The roles are non-speaking.
African-American and bi-racial children are strongly encouraged to
audition. Please call Elisabeth Madden at 330-672-0103 to schedule an
appointment. Appointments are necessary for the audition. Please
bring a current listing of previous experience and be prepared for an
interview.
Directed by Rohn Thomas, performances of MEDEA are Tuesday - Saturday
at 8 PM and Sunday at 2:30 PM from October 31 - November 9. There is
also a matinee performance on Wednesday, November 5 at 10 AM. Those
auditioning must be able to attend all of these performances. Children
in the production will be called to rehearsals no more than twice a
week between the hours of 7 PM - 9 PM. Children would be expected to
attend all rehearsals during tech week beginning, Sunday, October 26
until opening Friday, October 31.
MEDEA is a Greek tragedy and does include adult themes. Medea's life
is torn apart when the man she loves and left her home and family for,
betrays her. Once a powerful, princess, Medea is left without a
husband and banished from their home. Given sanctuary in Athens, Medea
must decide whether to leave quietly or seek her revenge.
