            Actors=E2=80=99 Summit announces the opening of  The Glass Menag=
erie by=20
Tennessee Williams at its theater, 86 Owen Brown Street, one block north and=
=20
two blocks west of the clocktower, in downtown Hudson, Ohio. The production=20=
has=20
a preview performance on October 23 with a twelve performance run through=20
November 9. Performances are given Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 PM=
 and=20
Sundays at 2:00 PM.=20

            Actors=E2=80=99 Summit is a professional, non profit theater whi=
ch has=20
produced over thirty major productions during its four year existence. It ha=
s=20
been the recipient of major grants from the Akron Community Foundation, the=20
Hudson Community Foundation, the GAR Foundation, and the John S. & James L.=20=
Knight=20
Foundation. During the 2002-2003 season Actors=E2=80=99 Summit performed for=
 over=20
12,000 people at its=E2=80=99 home theater and for nearly 9,000 students and=
 teachers on=20
tour.

The Play
The Glass Menagerie is widely recognizes as a classic of modern American=20
theater. It was the first major success of Tennessee Williams' long and impr=
essive=20
career. The play tells the story of the Wingfield Family and is set in 1939=20
on the eve of World War II in St. Louis. Amanda Wingfield has been abandoned=
 by=20
her husband, =E2=80=9Ca telephone man who fell in love with long distance.=
=E2=80=9D Her son,=20
Tom, works in a shoe warehouse and plots his escape from the drudgery of=20
home. Tom=E2=80=99s sister, Laura, is a painfully shy young woman with a cri=
ppled leg. The=20
play is memory as told by Tom looking back on his last months at home.

The Cast
The Actors=E2=80=99 Summit production features Peter Voinovich as Tom, Mary=20=
Jane=20
Nottage as Amanda, Kristie Lang as Laura, and Rick Shartzer as Jim. The prod=
uction=20
is directed by Actors' Summit artistic director, Neil Thackaberry. Costume=20
design is by MaryJo Alexander. Lighting design is by Dan Polk. Production=20
assistance is provided by Jon McKay and Maggie Morgan. Set construction is b=
y Joe=20
Proscia.

Performance Dates and Tickets
Tickets are $25.00 on Fridays and Saturdays and $21.00 on Thursdays and=20
Sundays. Students and Seniors receive a $4 discount. Students under age 18 a=

admitted for half price. Group discounts, season subscriptions and discount=20=

books are still available.
