Ensemble Theatre Opens Albee’s 1994 Pulitzer Prize Winner
Three Tall Women On November 22, 2003

Cleveland, OH, November 12, 2003 - Ensemble Theatre announced today that it
will open Edward Albee’s 1994 Pulitzer Prize Winner Three Tall Women on
Saturday, November 22, 2003. Eight performances are scheduled through
December 7, 2003. The play marks Ensemble Theatre’s second performance at
The Cleveland Play House, located at 8500 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland.
Three Tall Women premiered at English Theater in Vienna, Austria, in 1991,
and moved off-Broadway to the Vineyard Theatre in 1994. It won Albee his
third Pulitzer Prize - the first award for Seascape in 1967 and his second
in 1985 for A Delicate Balance. When Three Tall Women opened in New York,
The New York Post described it as "An extraordinarily brilliant play. Three
Tall Women is the best, most forceful play [Albee] has given us…”
Ensemble Theatre’s production is being directed by Licia Colombi and will be
performed in The Play House’s Studio One venue.
Based on Albee's estranged adoptive mother, Three Tall Women examines the
final days of a wealthy, 92-year-old matron's life. The play leaps from
realism in the first act to fantasy in the second act as he dissects the
woman's character, her life, her loves, and her hates with his trademark wit
and humor.
Up to 50 college students with an ID are invited to attend Friday night
performances on November 28 and December 5 for FREE! To reserve free
college student tickets, email beth at r-town.net.
