NEW DANCE THEATRE PREMIERES SHOW TO BENEFIT BREAST
CANCER 

(Akron, OH)---The inaugural performance of Nadeen
O’Connor Dance Theatre will be Saturday, December 6th,
at 8 p.m. at The University of Akron’s Daum Theatre.
The new show “Beginning Anew” is a benefit for the
Northern Ohio Breast Cancer Coalition Fund.  Tickets
cost $12 for adults and $8 for students.
	This independent, modern dance company has a unique
repertoire that reflects humanity and human
relationships as expressed through the exhilaration of
dance. The company incorporates a technique that
enables the audience to readily connect dance with
human experiences. 
	The company's artistic director, Nadeen O’Connor,
moved to Northeast Ohio from Toronto, Canada to attend
The University of Akron’s dance program. O’Connor has
made Akron her home and is faculty member of the Dance
Institute while focusing on developing the dance
company. Her work has been exhibited at different
public performances including Food For Thought, the
Vagina Monologues, and JazzFest. “I am committed to
creating and presenting fresh choreography, that
appeals both aesthetically and emotionally,” said
Nadeen O’Connor, artistic director. O’Connor is elated
to have her alma mater serve as the venue for the
first independent performance of Nadeen O’Connor Dance
Theatre. 
	“Beginning Anew” will premiere three new pieces
including a new work interpreting the cycle of grief
when encountered with breast cancer.  Totem,
originally premiered at The University of Akron’s
JazzFest will resurface with a new musical score
performed live by The University of Akron’s African
Drumming Ensemble lead by Bill Sallak. 	

	Performance is Saturday, December 6th at 8 p.m.
