BAD EPITAPH THEATER COMPANY ANNOUNCES PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS FOR "THE
AMERICAN REVOLUTION" AND "OTHELLO"

Bad Epitaph Theater Company will hold open call auditions for THE AMERICAN
REVOLUTION by Kirk Wood Bromley and OTHELLO by William Shakespeare, at
Loganberry Books, 13015 Larchmere Boulevard in Shaker Heights on Sunday,
January 4, 2004, beginning at 10 AM.

THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, directed by David Hansen, is a modern verse play
which tells the story of our nation=B9s origin in a unique and exciting way.
Bad Epitaph needs 9 men and 5 women (all ages).  We are looking for an
African-American male, aged 30 =AD 50, to play the lead role of George
Washington.  In addition, the production requires at least 3 actors who can
play musical instruments, or musicians interested in acting - specifically
(but not exclusively) those who can play percussion or the flute.

OTHELLO, directed by Alison Hernan, is the classic tale of envy, jealousy
and betrayal, told with a queer twist.  Bad Epitaph needs 1 African-America=
n
male for the title role (aged 30-45), 7 men (20-60) and 6 women (20-45).  W=
e
are looking for a woman to play Iago.

Those auditioning will be asked to prepare one Shakespearean monologue (in
verse, not prose) and one contrasting, contemporary piece.  Their entire
presentation should be no more than three minutes. Please provide two (2)
photos and resumes if available.  This is a preliminary audition, another
will be held at a later date.  A few roles may be cast from the preliminary
audition.  Interested parties must phone Bad Epitaph at (216) 556-0919 to
schedule an appointment.

THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION will be performed outdoors, June 17 =AD July 4, 2004,
rehearsals will begin in May.  OTHELLO will be performed indoors in Fall,
2004.

Bad Epitaph is an ensemble of artists who create an environment where
directors with vision and artists with passion collaborate to produce
theatrical works that are relevant to today=B9s society.
