Geographies of Intelligence: The Recorded Image, Imagination, and =
Identity=20

HeightsArts
2173 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights

Opens Saturday, January 3, 2004 with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. =20
The exhibition features the work of Kevin Everson, Lori Kella, and =
Michael S. Levy and will continue through February 1.

Kevin Everson creates short films, which focus upon the relentlessness =
of everyday life, as well as its beauty. This exhibition will present =
his latest work "From Pompei to Xenia," a film about love and loss =
surrounded by two historical disasters. Everson regularly is selected =
to present work at Sundance and other film festivals.

Much of the imagery Lori Kella's photographs is the product of a tactile =
imagination. She sews beads into felt, then photographs so that it =
almost looks like an aerial view of a landscape, at night. In 2002 =
Kella was selected for the "Wendy Moore Emerging Artist" solo exhibition =
at MOCA, Cleveland. =20

Michael J. Levy, an award-winning photographer for the Plain Dealer, =
photographs the city of Cleveland. But the view through his lens is not =
the view that we see every day. His careful, playful, and dissonant =
understanding of light and juxtaposition create a city with magical =
possibilities. A book of his photographs "Cleveland's Urban Landscape" =
has just been published by Kent State University Press and will be =
available at the gallery.

Heights Arts is a project of the Heights Arts Collaborative. The =
Heights Arts Collaborative is a community arts organization whose =
mission is to pull together the arts resources of the Heights in order =
to express the creative spirit of the community. =20
